What is IPL Laser Hair Removal?
Unlike shaving or waxing, laser hair removal is a long-lasting treatment for hair removal that targets growth at its source. Delivering highly concentrated energy deep into the hair shaft where it is absorbed by the pigment or melanin, laser hair removal safely damages hair follicles to dramatically slow and prevent future growth. A course of treatments can permanently reduce unwanted hair for smoother, softer looking skin. Other advantages of laser hair removal include:
- Permanent hair growth reduction of 80 to 90 percent
- Longest-lasting results compared to other hair removal methods
- Large treatment areas for improved efficiency
At Krch AESTHETIC MEDICINE, the advanced IPL laser device is calibrated depending on the coarseness or color of your hair and skin for maximum effectiveness, ensuring highly individualized treatments tailored just for you. This also allows Dr. Krch to perform laser hair removal almost anywhere on the body, adjusting the device as needed for optimal results on the face, chest, arms, legs, bikini area and more.

Your IPL Laser Hair Removal at Krch AESTHETIC MEDICINE
Before you arrive for your laser hair removal treatment, you’ll be given detailed instructions on how to prepare for your appointment. You should shave prior to the procedure but abstain from waxing, plucking or depilatories to ensure the hair follicle is intact. This makes it easier for the laser to target unwanted hair and helps to maximize the safety and effectiveness of your treatment for optimal results. You should avoid all sun exposure for a least 1 week before and after your treatment. We recommend to all patients to limit sun exposure and to always wear sun-protective clothing and sunscreen when out in the sun or in vehicles.
On the day of your appointment, you’ll arrive at the office to review your treatment plan with Dr. Krch. Next, areas that will be targeted by the laser will be cleansed and a topical anesthetic may be applied to ensure your comfort. Both you and the laser specialist will then put on safety glasses to protect your eyes from any harmful light emitted by the laser. Once you’re ready to begin, a handheld device will deliver pulses of IPL laser energy into your hair follicles, each burst lasting just a few micro-seconds to vaporize the hair bulb. You may feel some discomfort as the laser works to eliminate unwanted hair, but the procedure is generally well-tolerated, with most patients comparing the sensation to a rubber band slightly snapping on the skin. The laser can target several hairs at once to reduce the duration of your procedure, but the length of your session will vary depending on the size and scope of the areas being treated. The arms and legs may take an hour or more to complete, while smaller areas such as the chin or upper lip may only take a few minutes.
What happens after IPL Laser Hair Removal?
After your treatment, you may notice some redness, swelling or irritation in treated areas. This is completely normal and will subside over the next few days without a lasting impact. To help reduce any discomfort or inflammation you may experience, Dr. Krch may recommend that you apply a steroid cream or ice and provide you with detailed after instructions. In the weeks following your appointment, you will be more susceptible to sun exposure and need to avoid the sun for a week and to apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher sunscreen and UV protective hats and clothing to protect your skin at all times. Aside from these precautions, you’ll be able to resume all normal activities after your treatment to with little to no downtime or recovery.
What kind of results can I expect from IPL Laser Hair Removal?
You’ll notice an immediate reduction in unwanted hair after your first laser hair removal treatment, but more permanent results will take time to develop. Treated hairs will gradually shed in the weeks after your appointment and new growth will dramatically slow, but hair growth occurs in stages and will require a series of four to six treatments for an optimal outcome. After each appointment, your hair will come back thinner and finer until new growth ceases, permanently reducing unwanted hair by 80 to 90 percent. Touch-up treatments can help keep treated areas soft and smooth for years by quickly eliminating any new growth that may occur over time.
How does it work?

- Fat cleared from the treatment area is processed through your body's natural metabolism.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
- Your healthcare provider will help you determine how many treatment sessions you need, based on the amount and distribution of you submental fat and your personal treatment goals.
- Up to 6 treatments may be administered, spaced no less than 1 month apart.
- Fifty-nine percent of people treated with Kybella® in clinical studies received 6 treatments.
How is Kybella® administered?
- Kybella® is given during an in-office visit. The injection process may take 15-20 minutes.
- Your healthcare provider will give you a series of injections into the fat under your chin at each treatment session.
