Brotox
Looking in the mirror and feeling like you’re getting older is difficult for all of us, but women have always been held to a higher standard of beauty as they age. As men become more proactive about their appearance and invest in anti-aging treatments like Botox®, however, it looks as though that may be changing. Botox® has exploded in popularity in recent years, and a new "Brotox" trend is significantly increasing the number of men looking to smooth out facial wrinkles. It’s no surprise why — looking good and feeling younger can give you the competitive edge you need to land that next promotion or improve your dating life, and the Botox® experts at Krch AESTHETIC MEDICINE can help you achieve those goals. Keep reading to learn more about Brotox and what it can do for you.
What is Brotox?
Brotox refers to Botox® for men, an anti-aging treatment used to smooth out wrinkles and restore a more youthful appearance. Botox® works by using botulinum toxin to reduce the muscle movements that lead to lines and wrinkles around the face. When these muscles contract, they create grooves beneath the skin, usually hidden behind a healthy layer of collagen, elastin and subcutaneous fats. These components diminish as we age, however, and our skin becomes less resilient, turning these grooves into dynamic wrinkles that occur every time we laugh, smile or frown. By relaxing affected muscles with Botox®, we can soften the appearance of wrinkles and restore smooth, younger-looking skin after just one treatment.
Is Brotox for men different from regular Botox®?
Brotox for men utilizes the same active ingredient as other Botox treatments and the solution works the same regardless of gender. Men, however, often require a specialized approach and experienced practitioner to produce an optimal outcome. Your provider should have a thorough understanding of male facial anatomy to know where to place injections for subtle, natural-looking results that don’t make you look stiff or frozen. At Krch AESTHETIC MEDICINE, Dr. Ryan Krch has years of experience in aesthetics for men and works closely with each patient to help them achieve their goals. Combined with a high degree of precision, technique and finesse, Dr. Krch and his team are known for producing superior, symmetrical results that can turn back the clock without revealing your anti-aging secret.
Is Brotox right for me?
Botox has long been the gold standard in cosmetic wrinkle reduction, helping men and women of all ages reverse the signs of aging since 2002. With its track record of success and safety, Botox is appropriate for all adults who want to rejuvenate their appearance by eliminating dynamic wrinkles around the eyes, nose and mouth. Botox does not work on static wrinkles that are always visible, however, so you will need to meet with Dr. Krch and his team of aesthetic experts to determine if this treatment is right for you. They have treatments to reduce or eliminate static wrinkles too. If you’ve been considering Brotox, you may be a good candidate if you:
- Have mild to severe dynamic wrinkles in treatable areas
- Want to avoid more invasive rejuvenation techniques
- Do not have a muscle or nerve condition
- Are not allergic to any of the ingredients used in Botox
- ave realistic goals and expectations
What to expect during your Brotox treatment
Brotox treatments are quick and easy, usually taking about 20 minutes to complete depending on your individual goals and concerns. When you arrive for your appointment, Dr. Krch will begin by reviewing what was discussed at your consultation and answer any questions you may have to ensure accurate results. He will then clean and mark the areas being treated before administering the Botox injections, strategically placing each dose of the formula in predetermined locations for a subtle, natural-looking effect. Since men tend to have thicker muscles than women, you may need more Botox to achieve an optimal outcome. Each injection lasts just a few seconds and Dr. Krch uses a fine needle to minimize any discomfort, but you might feel a brief pinching or pulling at the injection site. This is generally well-tolerated, with most patients comparing the sensation to a pinprick. After your treatment, you should avoid exercise and lying down for at least 4 hours. Ideally you should wait 24 hours before returning to strenuous exercise. You can immediately resume all other normal activities with no downtime or aftercare. Avoid wearing hats or headbands or anything that would put even mild pressure on the treated areas for at least 4 hours.
